On the 6th of June the international exhibition community celebrated the Global Exhibitions Day. This year the keynote idea of video congratulations, flash mobs and special events devoted to the Global Exhibitions Day was uniting through trade shows.

Expocentre in Moscow hosted a video conference that brought together the participants in the 10th anniversary International Forum of the Exhibition Industry "5pEXPO 2018" and the 7th Russian Conference on Trade Fairs "Trade Fairs and Congresses: Digital Economy Networking".

The head of the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs (RUEF) Sergey Alexeev welcomed Russian and foreign colleagues and congratulated all of them on the Global Exhibitions Day. The professional holiday brought together representatives of trade show companies from 80 countries, he emphasized. In Russia, the Global Exhibitions Day is celebrated in 45 trade fair cities which host trade fairs of different formats.

Trade fairs develop trade, encourage economic growth, promote international cooperation, and what is especially important now, bring people together in live communication, said Expocentre General Director Sergey Bednov.

"It is noteworthy that during the celebration of the Global Exhibitions Day Expocentre hosts the events important for our industry: the 10th anniversary International Forum of the Exhibition Industry "5pEXPO", the 7th Russian Conference on Trade Fairs, and the General Meeting of the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs, said Sergey Bednov. "The participants in these events are representatives of the trade show community, industry associations, chambers of commerce and industry, and Russian authorities. The other day, a retrospective exhibition of trade show posters was opened at Vystavochnaya metro station which we held in connection with the Global Exhibitions Day."

Managing Director of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) Kai Hattendorf pointed out to the bridging function of the holiday celebrated worldwide. One of the main tasks, he thinks, is attraction of youth to the exhibition industry. "This year we have been glad to get a lot of videos devoted to the holiday; it was a real explosion. It means the number of our followers is growing", believes Kai Hattendorf.

Via  videoconferencing colleagues from India, Italy, and Germany congratulated all professionals of the exhibition industry on GED'18. Representatives of Russian companies also prepared unusual congratulations and flash mobs. Thus, ExpoForum (St. Petersburg) congratulated its associates on the new exhibition year and pointed out that June used to be the end of the trade fair season.

Acting Governor of the Kemerovo Region Sergey Tsivilev congratulated all trade fair professionals on their holiday. Representatives of the Kazan fair shared the video emphasizing a unifying power of trade shows. On GED'18 Yugra-Expo released 100 snow-white balloons.
