Expo’2017 organizers will attend 5pExpo Forum

29 / 04 / 2013

The 5pExpo Forum of the Exhibition Industry, which will take place on 6 – 8 June 2013 at Expocentre Fairgrounds, will be attended by officials from the Steering Committee of the Expo 2017 international specialized exhibition to be held at Astana, Kazakhstan. They have already confirmed that they will take part.

A key subject of the Forum is Universal EXPO Exhibitions: Role in Global Development, and there is good reason for this. Russia has bid to host the Expo 2020 at Yekaternburg and it is going to take part in Expo 2015 (Milan, Italy) and Expo 2017 (Astana, Kazakhstan).

The Expo 2017 Steering Committee officials will share their experience of staging this large-scale event and tell about the concept and key goals of the exhibition.

The main theme of the Expo 2017 proposed by Kazakhstan is Future Energy, since a sustainable use of energy is rising to the top of the agenda for many countries. Expo 2017 will help to put in the limelight the issues of energy saving and renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, tidal and thermal power.

The theme secured Astana the majority of votes at the 152nd General Assembly of the Bureau of International Exhibitions (BIE), a win over the Belgium city of Liege, and has made it the host city of Expo 2017.

Russia can hardly be said to have a clear and established idea of what global Expo exhibitions are, and what their role in the global development is. The 5pExpo Forum will run a debate on the issues that will be of interest to a wide range of specialists, the press and business people.
