The 7th International Forum of Exhibition Industry 5pEXPO’013 is over

Today Expocentre held the closing ceremony of the 7th International Forum of Exhibition Industry 5pEXPO’2013, which ran at Expocentre Fairgrounds on June, 6 – 8. The Forum was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russian Federation and Expocentre ZAO, with the support from the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, and RUEF – the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs.

The rich and diversified business-related programme of the Forum 5pEXPO-2013 testifies to the fact that this project continues its rapid development in response to major trends and events in the life of the exhibition community.

This year the forum provided an opportunity for direct productive dialogue between representatives of ministries, trade unions, administrations of cities and regions, business, science and culture. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Moscow City Government, the Administration of Yekaterinburg, CIS Executive Committee, the Interstate Council on Fair, Exhibition and Congress Activities of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russian Federation and the heads of the regional chambers, their colleagues from Kazakhstan, the Republic of Belarus, Kirghizia, Tadzhikistan, RUEF – the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs, Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, as well as the leading Russian and foreign exhibitors took an active part in the work of the Forum 5pEXPO’2013.

The participants and organizers of the Forum were greeted by Aleksandr Torshin, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, and Sergey Katyrin, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russian Federation.

Sergey Bednov, General Director of Expocentre, Chairman of the CCI Committee for Exhibition and Fair Activities and Support of Producers and Exporters, noted that the Forum 5pEXPO had exceeded the bounds of its original format as the exhibition for exhibitors. “Today the Forum has become a platform of cooperation not only for exhibitors, but also for businessmen, representatives of industrial associations, who are consumers of exhibition services. After all, exhibitions run for our enterprises, producers and exhibitors”, added Sergey Bednov.

The business-related programme of the 5pEXPO’2013 Forum was organized in a special way, taking into account the trends and factors that are affecting the development of both the Russian and global exhibition and congress market, and will be crucial in the coming years.

The principal issues were discussed at the panel discussion – Focus of Government Attention: Exhibition Business, as well as within the round-table discussion Investing in Exhibition Facilities Using Public-Private Partnership. Principles of Locating Regional Exhibition Premises.

Participants of the roundtable gave their voices for the rapid adoption of the Concept of development of exhibition and congress activity and the Law of exhibitions and congress activities in the Russian Federation. They also discussed the prospects of development of exhibition industry on public-private partnership, the way of creation of modern material and technical base of exhibition activities and other principle issues.

One of the main topics of the Forum was devoted to the EXPO World Universal Exhibitions, their significance for the global development and the participation of Russia in this event. There took place the presentation of the Russian application for the right to conduct EXPO’2020 in Yekaterinburg, and the presentation of the International specialized exhibition EXPO’2017 in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.

Another important event of the business-related programme was the presentation of Moscow as the exhibition capital of Russia (the capital runs more than 60% of the exhibitions held in the country).

Among the events were round-table discussions CIS Exhibition Business: Role in Economic Integration of CIS Countries; Interaction Between Sectoral Association of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and Exhibition Operators; seminar Intellectual Property Protection and Enforcement as Part of the Exhibition Activity; business-seminars Global Market of Event Services. Event Industry Development: Trends and Forecasts; Marketing Solutions in Exhibition Business. Maximizing Sales; Innovations in Stand and Exhibition Design. Modern Exhibition Equipment; IT Technologies for Exhibition Industry: Review of Technical and Digital Innovations.

Working Group Session on the Development of Cooperation in Staging Exhibitions and Congresses with CIS Exhibition Companies and other events devoted to the development of exhibition industry also took place within the 5pEXPO’2013Forum.

More than 1000 Russian specialists, experts, representatives of authorities, business circles of the countries of near and far abroad participated in the discussion of trends and development prospects of the exhibition industry.

A special attention within the Forum was given to the exhibition of achievements of the modern exhibition and congress industry. At the exhibition area of around 9000 sq  m more than 200 companies engaged in the exhibition and event services, audio-visual equipment, technical means of communication, services in the field of advertising, exhibition audit and design firms, manufacturers of souvenir production and others put on display their novelties and developments.

The stands of exhibition companies and complexes, the regional Chambers of Commerce and Industry, as well as the salon Expostand attended by companies working in the sphere of design and construction of stands, production structures, equipment and materials, caused a great interest among the visitors and experts.

The Forum culminated in the announcement of results of competition Expodesign’2013. Best Russian Stands. The leading companies offered their innovative ideas in design of the exhibition stand, the capabilities of construction and decoration materials. The credible jury considered more than 150 projects submitted for the competition.

According to the organizers, the 5pEXPO’2013 Forum has carried out one of the key tasks – it managed to attract the ministries, industry associations, regional administrations, as well as the representatives of business, science, and culture to the modern exhibition technologies, and also to familiarize them with the possibilities and potential of the exhibition and congress industry in the country.
